The Power to be sons

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” – John 1:12-13

God’s love is unconditional and unfathomable! His Son was rejected when He came to the earth to save humanity and God’s wrath was poured on Him who did not deserve it and not on us who deserved it.

But God has done more than just turn His wrath away from us. He has given us a mighty power. A great power that we share with Jesus Christ Himself; that is to become the sons of God! Can we even imagine how much of a privilege that is? The Creator of the universe is willing to call us as His sons and daughters, and all we have to do is to believe on His name!

So why do we often forget this calling? Why do we live our lives as though we are slaves to this world? Why do we often walk as though we don’t know this God and continue being in service to those other gods? This is why Paul exhorts in Galatians 4:7 -

“Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Let us remember who our Father is. Through Christ we are made heirs of God, so let us follow the example of Christ on how He conducted Himself when He was on this earth – completely submitted to the will of the Father.

We are given the power to be the sons of God!
