What is our gain?

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” - Philippians 3:7-8

Our righteousness comes through faith and this faith denounces any other gods that may rule over us. We are aware that anything that we love more than God, becomes an idol. These idols could be the temporary things on this earth that we consider as personal gains in our lives.

Our gain is in knowing Christ more.

Paul here testifies about how much loss he suffered for the sake of the gospel of Christ, and the beautiful thing is that what he considers gain is in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and nothing else.

What do we consider gain? What do we hold dear that gives the world, the flesh or the devil an edge over us? Do we actually yearn to know more about Christ? Let that be our gain. Let that be our zeal. The more knowledge we attain about Jesus Christ, the closer we get to Him and our righteousness becomes justified through faith while everything else begin to seem silly and void.

Let our gain be in the knowledge of Christ, who is the author and the perfecter of our faith.
