“Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” - Colossians 4:6
We are the children of God, and also the ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20); and God expects us to wise in our deeds, especially with regards to our speech and conduct when we interact with the world.
Our best example is our Lord Jesus Christ. When He was on earth, His conduct was always with grace and His speech, in many instances, surprised the listeners. He always knew His listeners very well and spoke to them accordingly. To those who considered themselves wise, Jesus spoke in hidden truths. To those who lacked sufficient wisdom, He simplified His answers using metaphors and parables.
Our words should impact the lives of people and must be filled with grace. Our answers must be embellished with Wisdom and not vain soothsaying. This way of speech can only be attained with the help of the Spirit, and He will teach us what to say in the right moment (Luke 12:12).
So let us submit ourselves to be disciplined by the Spirit to know what to say and answer, when required. As children of God, let our conduct be always with grace and wisdom.
