For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
When sorrows comes in our lives, we have to discern if they are of God or of the World. If it is godly, we should always remember that it works unto repentance of our sins. But if we continue to remain in the sins that we once pushed away for the sake of God, that is where the sorrow of the world comes in, which in turn results in spiritual and physical death.
Godly sorrow never gives way for regret or guilt. It’s pure and required in our lives if we need to be mature Christians. This is one of the ways in which God teaches us patience, endurance and the willingness to trust in Him to attain the peace that passes all understanding.
