Trying of our faith

“God’s love tries our faith to establish a Christ-like character in us.”

“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” - James 1:3

God’s love for us goes beyond what an earthly father or a mother has. It never rejects nor forgets us. God brings us up in His love to the point of spiritual maturity that He expects of us. In order to do that He trains us in the way of Christ.

The way of Christ is humility and endurance. God tries our faith to make us more like His Son. James here instructs us to ‘count it joyous when we fall into various temptations’ (vs. 2). This helps us ascertain the level of faith we have in us. It gives us a clear understanding of what Christ went through when He was on this earth and teaches us to endure trials and tribulations with patience as He did.

Facing trials head-on and fleeing away from temptations requires the grace and wisdom of God. Many of us fail occasionally only because we do not completely rely on the Lord to carry us through.

Let us put all of our trust on the Lord. He knows our being and how capable we are in enduring different trials.
