Faith without works

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” - James 2:26

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is what keeps us going in this troublesome world. Many times, this faith is reduced to just believing and hoping in things to come not seen, rather than maturing in it.

True faith brings out good works. Our works though are in no way the pointers to our salvation. They are just the results of the faith that brought us to the fold of our good Shepherd and our works should reflect the Love of Christ in us.

Faith without works is dead because true faith transforms a life. Having been transformed into new creations through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), our works become new. That being said, works without faith are also dead. According to Jesus, some would call Him “Lord, Lord” but would not enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Mathew 7:21-23).

So let our faith produce the fruits of good works. We are the light of the world, let us shine in the darkness and help the people of the earth see the true light.
