Do not doubt

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” - James 1:6

How strong is our faith in Christ? To doubt means to doubt in the abilities of Him who saved us. The salvation we received came through faith and to doubt makes it nothing but fruitless.

Wisdom comes from the Lord and when we ask for it, He will give it ‘liberally’ (vs. 5). There is only one condition seen there and that is to ask without doubting. Our prayers are often laced with doubts and our minds wander from divine care to worldly support; This in James’ words means being ‘driven and tossed by the wind’.

In our lives, there may be many situations that may not make sense to us and it would seem impossible for us to attain a permanent solution to the trouble we face. But Jesus Christ is never-changing. He is still the same God, waiting to give to all liberally. It is only our doubts that hold us back. Our doubts are the reason that we do not receive anything from the Lord.

Let us not be double-minded people. Let our minds be focused on the Lord, who has done so many marvelous things in our lives. If we still face the issue of doubt, ask God to remove it from us and to fill us with His love, faith and hope.
