Brotherly Love

“Let brotherly love continue.” - Hebrews 13:1

The Bible, in many places, exhorts us to love our brothers in Christ unconditionally and the best role model for us was none other than Jesus Christ Himself, who gave up His life for our salvation and brought us nigh unto the Father of grace.

Though we do have brotherly love within us, we have progressively come to build walls around us stating that, for brotherly love to continue, we are to keep a healthy distance. We have come to enjoy solitude over unity in Christ, and have limited our fellowship to occasional gatherings or feasting.

God expects us to be one in Him. We are, after all, the body of Christ and each of us are the members thereof (I Cor 12:12-27). We are to care for each other and maintain the fellowship and unity we have in Christ.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” - Psalms 133:1

Additionally, the word of God says that “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar.” (1 John 4:20). Let us have Christ’s unconditional love flow through us. Let us continue in brotherly love. Let us lend a helping hand to the weak ones, accept the needy into our midst and dwell together in unity, forgetting our differences and forgiving our short-comings.
