Do no neglect the Great Salvation
“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” - Hebrews 2:3
The gospel was first preached by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself. The gift of salvation is given to all those who believe and there is no charge or price involved, for the price has already been paid by Him.
Many times in our life, we tend to neglect this great salvation that was given to us. We take it for granted and walk according to our ways and forget that sacrifice. We betray Christ and His Spirit by compromising with many things of this world that are temporary and pointless.
Do we earnestly give heed to the Word of God? Or are we slipping away from His presence?
There is a warning mentioned here. We may not be able to escape if we are taking this great salvation for granted. Christ, having restored our fellowship with God has paid a huge price and to dishonor His sacrifice is to trample Him, His word and His gospel under our foot.
God has been mindful of us even in our lowest estate! He has counted us worthy to be called as His children even though we were foolish and undeserving of any pardon. Let us heed to His voice. Let us honor Him in everything we do.
Let us abstain from taking His salvation for granted and walk worthy of the calling He has called us with.
