Godliness with contentment

Christ has not called us to be rich or wealthy on this earth. Our desire for wealth can only lead us to falling into diverse temptations.

“But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.” - 1 Timothy 6:9

What Christ does expect from us though, is ‘godliness with contentment’. We are to consider this as the greatest gain we can achieve. Godliness with contentment will never let us stray from the faith, it will never harbor jealousy or greed in us, and it will teach us to be glad and satisfied with every situation in life.

‘The love of Money is the root of ALL evil’, and the more we earn or make, the more we desire. These are harmful lusts and Paul exhorts to flee them (2 Timothy 2:22), because these temptations will only eventually harm our minds, bodies, relationships, faith and hope in God.

So are you content with everything you have in your life? If you are not, simply fill yourself with godliness, and Christ will teach you to be content with the sufficient grace that He has bestowed upon you.
